I’m a 73 year old aircraft mechanic/tech in East/Central Florida where 6-months out of the year, humidity is greater than 90%, and heat index ranges from mid-90’s to 125! During the four hottest months, I average 1.25 gallons of water/diluted hydration drink per day and I’m still chronically dehydrated! Will this system help me during these hotter months?

Thanks for your question. Yes, the Nix Biosensor can definitely be used for workplace conditions that result in high sweat rates and electrolyte losses that lead to dehydration. The Nix Biosensor will help you determine how much you are sweating which will help you determine how much you need to drink to minimize the effects of dehydration. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello. Does this analyze the volume of sweat, salt concentration in sweat, or both? I understand that a person can sweat a lot but not necessarily lose salt.

Thank you

The Nix Biosensor measures your total and hourly sweat rate, your total and hourly electrolyte loss, and your electrolyte composition (mg/oz). It does not specifically measure sodium/salt loss but we can extrapolate the electrolyte loss to provide a sodium/electrolyte recommendation based on your results.

And yes, actual electrolyte composition can vary widely from person to person and you can be a heavy sweater but have a lower electrolyte loss. The Nix Biosensor would be a great way to find that out.
