A Triathlon Legend Bids Farewell to Professional Racing
Long-time INFINIT Pro Andy Potts is a name synonymous with excellence, perseverance, and grace in the world of triathlon. After more than two decades of dominating the global stage, Andy has officially announced his retirement from professional racing. Known as the “Good Guy of Triathlon,” Andy leaves behind an extraordinary legacy that’s inspired athletes of all levels.

A Storied Career Spanning Two Decades
Andy’s athletic journey began at the University of Michigan, where he was a six-time All-American swimmer and also competed on the track team. This dual-discipline foundation launched Andy into triathlon, where his impact was immediate. In his debut year, 2003, he was named USA Triathlon’s Rookie of the Year, and just a year later, he represented the United States at the 2004 Athens Olympics.
Andy’s career boasts remarkable achievements:
Olympian: Represented the U.S. in the 2004 Athens Olympics.
IRONMAN Champion: Eight IRONMAN wins, including an impressive 7th-place finish in his Kona debut.
IRONMAN 70.3 World Champion: Took the title in 2007.
Escape from Alcatraz Dominance: Six-time champion of this iconic race.
Pan Am Games Gold: Triumphed in 2007.
Consistency and Longevity: Over 60 professional wins, including 32 IRONMAN 70.3 victories, and competitive racing into his mid-40s.
Andy’s ability to evolve and stay competitive across different formats, from draft-legal races to long-distance IRONMAN events, is a testament to his versatility and dedication. He’s one of the few athletes to excel in both draft-legal racing and non-drafting endurance events—a rare feat that cements his legendary status.

The INFINIT Connection: Fueling Greatness
Throughout his career, Andy relied on precision nutrition to fuel his training and racing—and INFINIT was at the core of his success. Andy’s custom blends were meticulously formulated to meet his unique needs, ensuring he had the energy, hydration, and focus required to perform at his peak.
Andy’s Go-To INFINIT Blends
Run Blend: Simple and effective, this blend was designed to meet all his run and swim training needs. By eliminating protein and caffeine, it minimized the risk of GI issues, making it ideal for sustained efforts.
Racing Bike Blend: Featuring caffeine for a race-day kick, this blend powered Andy through countless long-distance races, including the grueling IRONMAN World Championships in Kona.
Training Bike Blend: Optimized for long training sessions, this blend was tailored for endurance, free from caffeine, and fine-tuned to prevent flavor fatigue during extended efforts.
“Where has this been all my life? I wish I had found INFINIT earlier in my career,” Andy said, a testament to the role INFINIT played in his remarkable journey.

A New Chapter Begins
While Andy steps away from professional racing, his influence on the sport continues. As a coach, mentor, and ambassador, Andy is dedicated to shaping the next generation of triathletes. He’s passionate about sharing his wealth of knowledge and helping athletes unlock their potential.
“I love triathlon and the opportunity to see what’s possible,” Andy reflects. “Every success, setback, and turn in circumstances offered me an opportunity.”
As he embraces this new chapter, we’re excited to see how Andy continues to inspire—on and off the course.

New Coach of the USAT Paratriathlon Resident Team
AP’s next chapter includes a new role as coach of the USA Triathlon Paratriathlon Resident Team. Based at the Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center, the Resident Team is a high-performance program designed to support the best paratriathletes in the United States.
“Coaching the USA Triathlon Paratriathlon Resident Team is an incredible honor and an opportunity I’m truly excited about as I transition from racing to giving back to the sport that has given me so much,” Andy said. “I’m looking forward to helping these talented athletes grow, not just as competitors, but as people, by sharing the lessons I’ve learned throughout my career—the victories, the setbacks, and everything in between.”
The Resident Team has produced multiple World Championship and Paralympic medals, and under Andy’s guidance, it aims to build on its impressive legacy leading up to the LA 2028 Paralympic Games. The current roster includes elite and development athletes such as Paris 2024 Paralympian Emelia Perry and US national champion Skyler Fisher.
