Strength training is not just for building strength and bulky muscles. More and more studies are coming out showing that there are a wide range of benefits associated with resistance and weight bearing exercise, beyond just athletic performance. While strength and weight training has traditionally had a reputation for being a male-centric type of exercise reserved for those trying to bulk up and gain mass, it is now transitioning to a popular activity and tool used for weight loss, cross training, and overall general fitness.
The days are getting shorter and, for most of us, the cooler temperatures have started to roll in (if you’re one of the lucky few in a warmer state, soak up a little extra sunshine for the rest of us!). Whether you’re hitting the road or tackling the trails, there are a few important things to remember in order to stay safe and optimize your performance as the cooler weather approaches.
Team INFINIT veteran, Dede Greisbauer, explains why she recently decided to go through physiological and metabolic testing, what the experience was like, and how the results affected her nutrition plan.
Getting muddy over a short period of time at a high intensity is everything that cycle cross is about. It’s about developing a skill level and technique that compliments your fitness and power. The other elements of cycling are still there. Starting quickly, riding in a pack, fighting for position, and tactics are all part of the race. When you add the dirt, grass, bad weather, choice of equipment and running then you have a sport that is as different as it is the same. Cycling legend Frankie Andreu breaks down the growing sport of cyclocross and dives into why the sport appeals to so many different types of athletes
Rudy von Berg had a breakout year in 2018 with a 10th place finish at the 70.3 World Championships, 1st place at the Wildflower Triathlon, and several 70.3 wins including the European Championships and South American Championships. He also took the tape at last year’s 70.3 Nice, which is the site of this year’s IRONMAN 70.3 World Championships coming up on September 8th.
Rachel Langdon, pro cyclist and member of Team INFINIT, has powered through the 2019 race season and set a high standard in the world of cycling. Here at INFINIT Headquarters, our team of formulation specialists talk to a LOT of people throughout the year. One of the biggest “complaints” we hear is that INFINIT (particularly a custom blend) is kind of expensive. When, in reality, when you compare it to a fueling strategy that uses gels, chews, salt pills, a bar or two, and a commercially available sports drink, INFINIT is not any more expensive—and in a lot of cases, actually LESS than—the combination of all that other stuff.
It’s been a wild ride up to this point, but I finally managed to snag my first overall (amateur) win at the IRONMAN 70.3 distance. The funny thing is, I’m probably not even in the best shape I’ve ever been. I am however, the happiest I’ve ever been. Those who know me, know I had a tough 2018. I’ve got a huge support network to fall back on, including my parents, my career, my friends/family, loyal sponsors, and a host of other former teammates/coaches/etc.
Nicholas Chase is trucking through his 6th year competing among the professional ranks in triathlon, and is coming off his best season yet in 2018, which included a 6th place pro finish at 70.3 Steelhead. While finishing the final few years of his 10 years of service in the United States Air Force, Nick became hooked on the sport of triathlon. As most age group athletes will know, if you put your mind to something, dive in with all of your energy, and make some changes, big things can happen.
Red, white, and blue — The official colors of summertime. This wonderful season, that most of us look forward to all year, is marked by our most patriotic national holidays. We kick off the season by remembering all those who served and gave the ultimate sacrifice on Memorial day. We mark the midpoint when we celebrate Independence Day on July 4th, and Summer winds down to fall when Labor Day comes around.
